2026 WLL All-Star Candidate Submission

2026 Waterford Little League All-Star Tournament Overview and Registration Form

Waterford Little League is soliciting interest for the All-Star teams who will compete in District 10’s All-Star Tournaments.

All-Star teams, consisting of players league ages 8–12, will be selected from among the regular season Major and Minor League softball and baseball players to represent WLL in the Little League All-Star tournaments. The Waterford Little League (WLL) Board of Directors believes that early communication about the time commitment and eligibility requirements associated with All-Star tournament play helps both parents and the league optimize the All-Star experience.

Selection as an All-Star player is an honor. It is the opportunity to represent WLL and play at a higher level against top competition from around Southeastern Connecticut and potentially beyond. Alongside that honor comes significant commitment and responsibility that extends to both players and families.

Attendance at ALL practices and ALL games is MANDATORY for every All-Star player. This is not an optional or partial commitment. By accepting a roster spot, your player and family agree to be present at every scheduled practice and every scheduled game for the entire duration of the team’s tournament run. Missed practices or games impact the team, the player’s readiness, and the player’s eligibility to participate.

All-Star teams will be announced on or around June 1, 2026.

Time Commitment

All practices and all games are mandatory. Practice begins immediately upon announcement of the teams and continues for as long as a team is playing. Teams will practice anywhere from 5 to 7 days per week (days and times set by the manager) before game play starts, and on most off days after games start. Practice duration is typically at least two hours. For the remainder of the regular spring 2026 season, players are to prioritize their regular season team commitments over All-Stars.

There is always a chance to advance beyond the District tournament rounds. Parents should plan family vacations later in the summer—preferably in August—whenever possible. If you are planning family vacations or other absences during June and/or mid-July and do not have flexibility in your schedule, you should decline an invitation to participate in the All-Star process, since attendance at every practice and every game is required.

Both practices and games may be held in the late afternoon or evening on any weekday, and at any time on both weekend days. Games are played locally in the first round, but increasingly farther away should the team advance to subsequent rounds. Players and families must be available for all of these dates and times.

Attendance Policy

Every practice and every game is mandatory. All-Star players are expected to be on time, in uniform, and ready to participate at 100% of scheduled team activities. The following expectations apply to every All-Star player and family:
•       Full attendance is required at every practice and every game from the day teams are announced through the team’s final game.
•       No partial commitments. Players who cannot commit to the full schedule should decline their invitation so another player may be offered the spot.
•       Notify the manager immediately if a genuine emergency (illness, injury, or family emergency) prevents attendance. Routine conflicts, lessons, other sports, other teams, and non-emergency travel are not excused absences.
•       Repeated or unexcused absences may result in reduced playing time and/or removal from the roster at the discretion of the manager and the WLL Board.

Required Player Documentation

In order for your child to play on an All-Star team, the following paperwork must be submitted once teams are announced: –A Certified Original Copy of your child’s birth certificate.
◦       If you do not have a certified copy, you must obtain one. If you have lost your child’s birth certificate over the years, you may request a replacement.
◦       For children born in New London County, contact: New London County Clerk, 181 State St., New London, CT 06320, (860) 447-5204.
◦       For those born outside New London County, contact the US State Department: http://travel.state.gov/
•       Three valid proofs of residency are required by Little League International. More information about proof of residency is available at www.littleleague.org and from the WLL player agent.

**Please note: this paperwork is not due now – only after a player has been selected to a team

Player Selection

10–12 Baseball and Softball, 9–11 Baseball, and 8–10 Baseball and Softball All-Star teams are chosen by regular season manager votes and the All-Star team manager.
Managers and coaches of each team will explain to their players that good sportsmanship, physical skills, and attitude make a player worthy of All-Star consideration.

Code of Conduct

By submitting this registration:
•       You understand there is to be no coaching by parents or shouting of instructions during games or practices. You will not complain about or yell at umpires, players, managers, or coaches at any time, as this may result in the tournament umpire asking you or the All-Star manager to leave the field.
•       You understand that as an All-Star, your child represents WLL and that your behavior will be a reflection of the league.
•       While we appreciate the disappointment your child may feel if they are not chosen to start or to play the positions they played during the regular season, we expect you to maintain a level of objectivity and to appreciate the coaching staff’s challenge in deciding playing positions and playing time. Please note that there is no requirement that every player takes the field in every game; however, every player will be included in the batting lineup. You agree to support the All-Star players and coaches and to put what is best for the team ahead of individual needs.
•       If you need to express any concerns with the manager, we expect that the conversations are held privately and not during or directly before/after games.
•       You agree that your player will attend every scheduled practice and every scheduled game.

Volunteer Requirements

If selected, each player’s family must sign up for 4 games of volunteer spots—3 in the concession stand and 1 other (press box, tournament director, etc.). Training will be provided for all volunteer roles. Waterford will be an All-Star host for multiple divisions this year, and volunteers make that possible. If families do not complete this requirement for each All-Star player in their family, that player will not be considered for All-Stars next year. PLEASE NOTE: This requirement is per player.

League Fees

If your child is selected for tournament play, there is a fee of $150.00 to help offset a small portion of the expenses the league incurs. Registration will be sent to selected players after teams are announced.
WLL wants all parents to understand these points so that everyone (player, manager, and parent) has a fun and successful All-Star experience. If you have any questions, please email [email protected].

By submitting your registration, you agree to all of the above requirements and guidelines, including the mandatory attendance policy for all practices and all games.

Thank you,
Waterford Little League Board of Directors
